Let’s start Birding!

An early morning stroll along the river can result in 60 species being spotted. Toucans, woodpeckers, seedeaters, becards, wrens, antshrikes, cuckoos, kites, herons, kingfishers, etc. You may be lucky enough to see a spectacle like a Laughing Falcon with a snake in its beak, or an Hornero building its “pizza oven” like nest.

The Gallery

Julie Watson, an Englishwoman living in Ecuador, is a passionate birder and photographer, who has spent the last 8 years searching for the most beautiful birds of Ecuador in the best light, in their natural environment, in order to get a decent snap.

This gallery shows a collection of her best photos of birds of the Puerto Quito area.

All the photos are for sale, either digital versions or print and a percentage of the proceeds will go towards funding the bird and conservation workshops Julie does in small rural schools in the region.
